Friday 12th March 2010, 2:56PM GMT.
A DRIVER had a lucky escape after his van burst into flames as he drove near the South Pier yesterday.
A spokesman for the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said that they were called to the bottom of Mount Bingham just before 2 pm after the driver smelled burning.
It is thought that the blaze was started by a fuel leak. The driver was uninjured but shocked by the incident.
