UK rapper Tinie Tempah has just released his debut single.

JERSEY Live organisers have announced their first signing for September’s festival.

Rapper Tinie Tempah, whose debut single, Pass Out, is currently number one in the UK singles chart, will be part of the line-up on the main stage on Saturday 4 September.

Tinie’s debut album is due out just two months before his appearance at the two-day festival that takes place at the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity. He follows in the footsteps of Snow Patrol, Editors, Razorlight, Kasabian and The Enemy, who all played at Jersey Live before they were particularly well known.

See Friday’s JEP for full story.

I’ll make sure I wont be going then.

It’s about time Jersey Live got over some decent bands

I listened to 30 seconds of his number one thought it was awful, he obviously cannot sing or rap in tune due to the obvious over use of the autotuner. Not my cup of tea.

I pity the poor people that have to live next door to such a racket and then put up with the drunks and druggies who vomit and do worse in their gardens. In the seventies I helped organize a similar bash but had the good manners to use Elizabeth Castle as the venue. By the time the revelers had returned to the shore they had done all their nasties on the beach,to be cleaned up by the incoming tide.

This story is reminiscent of the ‘christmas lights / celebrity / town stampede’ fiasco

I’d never heard of Tinie Tempah before today. But being the open-minded chap that I am, to give him the benefit of the doubt I listened to a sample of his current ‘song’.

Oh dear. What dreadful rubbish. Do people honestly listen to this and actually enjoy it? Well each to their own I suppose. It’s almost as bad as that Dizzee Rascal muppet we had last year, IMHO, and I for one will be staying well clear of Jersey Live.

BTW someone should tell him that shell suits and oversized sunglasses went out of fashion in the mid-1980′s.

I think it’s great that we have a rap act, I love rap, before it’s emergence you had to be able to sing, now if you can talk over some music you’re a star.

Some of these guys can walk and talk at the same time, that’s like singing and playing a guitar, wow they’re great. I do hope they invest some of the fortune they earn in learning to spell their names properly.

Who?? I was looking forward to going to Jersey Live this year. If they were looking for rappers Jay Z and Eminem are touring the UK around that time. I can’t believe we got this bonker!

I would love it if they got Muse!!

I hope he is on very early….

…before the real musicians start playing.

There is nothing like a bit of talking in time to music to enable the sound technicians the opportunity to set the microphones at the right level.

You can tell the budget constraints are getting to Jersey Telecom now. If they want to get some decent rapping over get a band like Limp Bizkit or a decent stadium rock band. I just listened to this Tinie Tempah on “MySpace” I am not attending this year if this is an indication of the standard. The songs I have just listened to have been rehashed a thousand times and the there is much better out there.

This is a joke. The music scene in Jersey is fully alive and kicking. Why would we pay someone nobody has ever heard of to come over and rap? Rap not being the most popular music in Jersey, lets face it.
We have some amazing local acts Including Roots and reggae music, Acoustic, rock, heavy metal dance, trance everything an active crowd needs. Lets not forget Lloyd Yates which is a brillient group. Lets just hope Tinie Tempah is on before Lloyd!

If Lloyd Yates plays then I might change my mind and go, but let’s hope Lloyd is on before Tiny Tim so I can make sure I have left and I am nowhere near the place when the rubbish starts.

I could do better than this. I could do the Stuart Syvret RAP – “You could not make it up” Bosh “You could not make it up” Bosh; “I want fair Just-ice” Woe! “I want fair Just-ice” Woe, “You could not make it up”!

You know the usual repetitive boring rubbish he has been drowning us with for 18 years.

Thats a really good idea rico. The JEP could run a competition on the best Stuart Syvret Rap song. The winner gets the aptly named Tiny Temper to sing it. Poeple will just turn up to have a good laugh!

What a load of moaning minnies. I’ve not heard of this guy either but then I’m not the target audience.

The chaps who organise Jersey live have shown they know how to put a successful event together so lets trust them to know what they are doing. In fact, lets give them award for getting off their behinds and doing something that large numbers of people appreciate and that diversifies the economy.

Stop moaning that you’ve never heard of him, Jersey Live have actually brought over many
unknown bands before who then have gone on to be pretty popular. Had you all heard of The Temper Trap last year? Doves and Cage the Elephant? when they were over?

Tinie Tempah has been predicted to be big in 2010 so fair play to Jersey Live for booking him before he reached number 1 in the UK for the last 2 weeks.

“give him a chance at least”

Yes, I agree, we should do that

I indeed gave him a chance, by listening to his current ‘song’

    Check out these lyrics:
“I got so many clothes I have to keep them in my aunts house”
“Soon I’ll be the king like Price Charles child. Yeah!”
“I bin Southampton but I never bin to Scunthorpe”

    What a fruitloop.
Lame. Ok, he’s had his chance!
