Islander strikes silver in Ireland
Saturday 13th March 2010, 3:00PM GMT.

Monika Markowska.
JERSEY kickboxer Monika Markowska overcame injury to return from the Irish Open with two medals.
Competing in the women’s black belt, light continuous under 55 kg category, she won a bronze medal and went one better in the full contact event to take silver.
Markowska said: ‘It was really good that I won two medals and I am very proud of getting a silver as I only had two full contact fights before this.
‘The event is always a very high standard as most countries take their National team over to compete. This is the third time that I have entered but I’ve never won a medal before so this is a big improvement.’
