ROOKIE Sam Allix nearly recorded his first win in the adult group at the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club event, held in glorious conditions, on Sunday.
In the middle of the day race Dale Campbell took the ‘holeshot’, followed by Guernsey rider Jake Pearce, with Allix in a good third position. Just completing one lap, Campbell slipped by the Chequered Flag corner and Pearce had nowhere to go, but Allix just had time to avoid the riders and took the inside line to pull ahead in convincing style.
Campbell, however, was quickly up and chasing but the whole pack had overtaken Pearce before he restarted his machine. Ben Le Cornu was also in the chase and when Campbell dropped it again it was Le Cornu who was chasing Allix hard.
After 15 minutes of hard racing Le Cornu overtook Allix on the last lap and within 100 metres of the chequered flag – truly exciting racing for the large crowd at Sorel.
