THE Jersey Football Association Capita Centre of Excellence Year-9 age group is to play four matches in Madeira next month.
In a ground-breaking venture, the JFA and their coaches have secured fixtures against a Madeira island select and professional clubs CD Nacional, CS Maritimo and CF Uniao.
‘It’s fantastic and we’re looking forward to it immensely,’ said Capita Centre of Excellence director Paul Renton.
‘We will play one 80-minute game a day while also having training sessions on the other two days with fellow Centre coaches Dave Walsh and Brian Oliver. This is a great opportunity for our players to play against professional clubs; their standard I’m sure will be high and we will be playing on 3G Astro pitches for the first time, so that will be another useful learning experience for us all.’
