POLITICIANS, volunteers and victims gathered recently for a special reception to mark the 21st anniversary of a charity which helps people to cope with crime.

Victim Support Jersey and its supporters celebrated the anniversary at a party hosted by Government House. The Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway, Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand, advocates, police and probation officers were among those who attended the celebration.

The charity provides confidential support and information to victims of crime and to witnesses attending local courts. Its services are free, independent of the police and courts, and available to everyone, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened.

Victim Support is based at the Magistrate’s Court in Union Street and can be contacted on 440496 or emailed at victimsupport@jerseymail.co.uk.
