A JERSEY firm is spearheading the battle against the downloading and distribution of child porn in Britain.

St Brelade-based Softek has won a contract to be sole UK distributor for software that stops images of paedophilia being downloaded and identifies the culprits.

It is aimed at the business market as it will detect any attempt to access child porn anywhere on a network.

If an employee tries to download images, they will be stopped from doing so. The software will also prevent images being circulated and report any such attempt to a pre-determined authority.

Softek director Mike Bienvenu said that the software, which was developed in Sweden and is used by child protection agencies there, is named NetClean ProActive.
