Charley Mills (14) is a pupil at Le Rocquier School with an obsession for motorcross.
What’s your obsession?
‘Riding motocross.’
What got you into it?
‘My family.’
How often do you do it?
‘I do it in Jersey every second weekend, as well as in the UK once a month and in Belgium once a year.’
Where do you do it?
‘In the Island – at Sorel Point in St John.’
Is it easy to get into?
‘Yes, it’s really easy to get into.’
What skills do you need?
‘You need strength, a good level of fitness, co-ordination and determination.’
Is it popular in Jersey?
‘Yes, it’s very popular and we have new riders joining all of the time.’
What do you like about it?
‘For me, it’s a personal challenge and I enjoy the speed and doing different tracks.’
What do you need to do it?
‘You need a bike, helmet and boots, as well as safety gear, such as body protection and a neck brace.’
How do I get into it?
‘Look on the Jersey Motorcycle and Light Car Club’s website for information about becoming a member, or just come along to an event and speak to someone.’
