THE Jersey Water Polo team finished the South East League in fourth place following two days of action at Les Quennevais over the weekend.
On Saturday they opened with a 16-11 victory over Oxford but were edged out of an intensely physical game against Southampton by one goal, 12-11.
The following day the Island side came close to causing an upset over the eventual winners, Worthing, for a third year running. Jersey, losing for most of the game, went into the final quarter 7-7 but the experience of their opposition told as they sealed a 10-7 win.
Finishing on a high Jersey put together a great team performance in their final match of the weekend beating newcomers to the league, and eventual runners-up, East Invicta 9-7.
Despite this strong finish Jersey lost out on goal difference to Southampton, after both drew level on points, and finished fourth.
