UK Budget: Few surprises

MEASURES detailed in yesterday’s UK Budget will have only limited effects in the Channel Islands.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Alastair Darling focused heavily on domestic matters, which was expected, given that a General Election is in the offing.

There were, however, issues concerning tax evasion and the loss of tax revenue to the UK authorities which will be examined closely by the finance industry specialists in Jersey, Guernsey and in the Isle of Man.
