If they want to save money, they should sit for free

From A Aubert.
WHAT a mess this Island is in. Public sector workers can’t get a pay rise.
If the Island needs to save money there is one easy way to do it. If people want to sit in the States they should do like the old days and do it for free, like the honorary police, only being paid expenses for when they go away on so-called business.

KIT 4 CLUBS
Win a share of £10,000
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.
Volunteers should not be running the Island, ask the zoo what a mess you can get in by having good willed but poorly experienced people running it.
To get the best people to run a company you employ a great CEO with experience, which costs money, this should be the same for the states. In fact it would not be a bad idea to have a top CEO run Jersey for three years as a business with a payment of 500k per year.

So what Aubert is alluding to is if we stop paying our States members we are more likly to get “the right sort” of person – the “good eggs”.

An idea so bad it merits no further comment from me.

Mr Aubert I’ve said this before on these forums. Put your money where your mouth is. You work for nothing as well, show us all how it’s done.
