JERSEY Special Gymnastics Club members won a host of medals after a day and half of action at Fort Regent last weekend.
At the Special Olympics Southern Region Artistic competition in the Queen’s Hall, 28 Islanders – who have been preparing hard at Greenfields, were among an entry of 128.
Jersey had four gymnasts performing voluntary routines at level 4, the highest level, and all in the under-21 section.
Samantha Godel, who was belatedly presented with her trophy from the last British Championships, last November, put in good shows on three pieces but two falls on the beam spoiled an otherwise good weekend. She took the all round gold comfortably while also winning two golds, two silvers and a bronze.

Well done to all the team for a fantastic show. All the hours of hard work and dedication not only by the gymnasts but by all the coaches has shown just what can be achieved. Now all they need is a state of the art training ground with pits etc and who knows where they will go OLYMPICS ???
We look forward to seeing them training soon
