Jersey RFC celebrate winning the title at Hertford last weekend Dave Tully/Hertfordshire Mercury

PROMOTED last Saturday, 23 wins in a row with only five matches remaining – and still Jersey RFC head coach Ben Harvey isn’t satisfied as his 1st XV go head to head with Tring at St Peter tomorrow.

‘If we lose one of the five I’ll be disappointed,’ he said. ‘We made mistakes at the weekend and although we’ve got the little things right in the past, in the bigger games they don’t always go right for us.

‘It’s a big step up to the next division. Yes, some of the players do struggle with nerves when we play in our bigger games. I’m not going to name names but you’d be surprised if I told you who some of them are. But the lads are up for it, and all of them want to go the rest of the season unbeaten.

‘We’ve three home games to come and the one thing I’d like from the crowd, not the players, is for them to be more vociferous. We’re going to need a lot of support next season and it needs to be partisan. It’s there in the Siam Cup when we play against Guernsey, so why don’t the crowd make more noise when we play in the league?’
