Drive for ‘a fresh start’ at Health

NEW, clear and credible whistle-blowing procedures are needed at Health, says Deputy Roy Le Hérissier.

He says that there is a need for more accountability and a need to make sure that solid foundations are laid for lasting change following recent criticism of the department.

The St Saviour Deputy has drafted a States proposition calling for new safeguards for people who want to raise grievances and fears. He also wants to make it easier for patients to raise concerns through a stronger complaints procedure and to see a new management improvement plan implemented.

The plan would aim to provide a structure, and thereby create a culture, which would underpin the implementation of recommendations made by the Verita report, which was published following an inquiry into the death of nurse Elizabeth Rourke.

I think they should put Jimmy Perchard back in charge of Health. He was the right man at the time, he had no fear in speaking his mind and his courage against critics is worthy of a medal. Certainly gets my vote.

Well done Rico.Nothing like trying to cause controversy with a “wild card !.”H&SS’s problems have been exacerbated by leadership by Ministers who were totally out of their depth e.g Syvret,Shenton,Perchard, none of whom could get their heads around the complexity of Health and Social care.I doubt also if Anne Pryke will crack it.
Sadly the system of minsterial government has only made matters worse and why incompetent management systems have been allowed to continue in H&SS.

Well done Deputy Le Hérissier, I support you all the way.

Only those with something to hide will object. Nevertheless be prepared for the storm as the vested interests muster their troops for the counter blast.

You may have no fear of Jimmy Perchard speaking his mind but I and many others do including , I might suggest, his ex-colleauges on the council of ministers. I’m sure the cringeworthy senator would like to drive us back into feudal politics but thankfully spends more time out of the chamber on ‘cricket’ business.
If’ the wisdom of a silent judge is never questioned’ Jimmy is most vociferous!

£ If ever there were a less appropriate politician in charge of health it is Jimmy Perchard, the same fella tells the Father of the house to “top himself” the on the radio this week has to be stopped by the interviewer as he gets ripped into a disabled man ,telling him he is workshy. an amputee who had the nerve to be part of a phone in,it seems he cannot control what comes out of his mouth..do we really want to be represented by his like ,he should have gone originaly…time to go now Jimmy.
