Experience gives Jersey edge
Saturday 3rd April 2010, 3:00PM BST.
JERSEY travel to Guernsey today with an experienced squad as they look to retain the honours in the under-18 Muratti.
Manager Dave Walsh retains four starters from last season’s 1-0 victory at Springfield while another entered the fray from the substitutes’ bench.
Jersey’s success last year was the first by a home team in six years in the fixture, which this year is being sponsored by the Insurance Corporation of the Channel Islands for the first time.
Odd-goal victories have dominated the series since 1995 bar Guernsey winning 6-0 in 1999 and Jersey 6-2 in 2001. Another closely-fought game is expected today.
Jersey coach Dave Kennedy said: ‘We looking good, we’ve had three sessions this week but we would have liked a bit more time to prepare and we will be discussing that with the league ahead of next season.’
