Operation for Ciara
Wednesday 7th April 2010, 3:00PM BST.
AWARD winning footballer Ciara Giles had a cruciate knee ligament operation yesterday after injuring herself representing Jersey last weekend.
The Hautlieu Year-11 pupil, who along with her brother, Jay, recently won the Capita Jersey Football Association Centre of Excellence’s Sid Guy Awards, sustained the injury in a match away to the Hampshire Football Association’s Centre of Excellence on Saturday.
JFA Centre director Paul Renton said: ‘Ciara was injured in a fair challenge for the ball and after returning to Jersey on Saturday she went to hospital where she had an X-ray.
‘She returned to hospital yesterday to take her crutches back and hospital staff told her that she required an operation and that was done yesterday.I’m sure Ciara will be fine when she fully recovers and everyone at the Centre wishes her a speedy recovery.’
