THREE boys – one just 15 – carried out a ‘callous and cowardly’ attack on a newcomer to the Island, assaulting him and robbing him of his £200 wages.

The 22-year-old victim has not been out socialising since the attack on 12 August last year and the psychological impact of the assault has been ‘significant’, a court heard. All three Jersey-born defendants have ‘appalling’ criminal records, having previously committed a total of 77 offences between them, the Royal Court heard yesterday.

Kieran William Monet (20), a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy decided to mug the barman – who had moved to the Island from the UK two months earlier – at about 1 am after he had asked the defendants where he could get something to eat.

Monet was sentenced to two years’ youth detention, the 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 12 months’ youth detention and the 15-year-old boy was put on probation for 12 months. All pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery, and the teenagers admitted a number of other offences.
