A JERSEYMAN will become chairman of the Island’s competition regulatory body for the first time, if the States agree.

Mark Boléat, an international expert on regulatory policy, has been nominated by Economic Development Minister Alan Maclean to be the new non-executive chairman of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority.

Victoria College-educated Mr Boléat will replace Lord Kingsland, who died unexpectedly in July 2009. The States are expected to approve the appointment in time for him to take up the post by the beginning of next month.

Mr Boléat (61), who is now based in London, said: ‘I am looking forward to taking up the post and getting on top of the job.’
