Inter-Island flights only today
Saturday 17th April 2010, 2:59PM BST.
ALL commercial flights to and from the UK and Europe have been cancelled today, but inter-island flights resumed from mid-morning.
It has meant a third day of disappointment for air travellers and heavy bookings for the ferries.
The announcement of the closure of the airspace over England, Wales and Scotland was made at 4.15 am as it became clear that the plume of volcanic dust from Iceland remained over the country.
Shortly after 10 am, Jersey Airport announced that they would remain closed today for all flights, but later revised this to allow inter-island flights
Yesterday’s national newspapers were in the shops today and Saturday’s will be available tomorrow.
