Clash of the Titans
Friday 23rd April 2010, 3:00PM BST.
TWO coaches, one common ambition.
For Jersey RFC’s Ben Harvey and Taunton’s Lee Waddon that ambition is, simply, to win tomorrow’s National III Champions Cup semi-final at St Peter and get to Twickenham.
It is a tough ask to judge who will win, for tomorrow’s game is between two club sides who have eclipsed virtually all of the opposition put before them this season.
Jersey, with a winning sequence of 25 league games finished with 121 points, 12 clear of second-placed Old Albanians on their way to league promotion.
Taunton’s unbeaten run has been even more impressive, for it began way back in 2008 before, 46 league games later, they finally lost in National South-West 2, going down 7-8 to Old Partesians; the result being largely irrelevant, though, as they had already won their league and with it promotion.
