Jail for internet sex predator
Saturday 24th April 2010, 3:00PM BST.
AN 18-year-old unemployed man who used the internet to prey on schoolgirls as young as 13 and then met them for sex has been jailed.
Former Highlands College student Elliot Sweet used the instant messaging service MSN Messenger to befriend the girls before threatening them into engaging in sexual activity with him, the Royal Court heard this week.
In some cases he would get them to strip for him via a two-way webcam, the court was told.
On Wednesday Sweet, who had been in custody since August, was sentenced to three years’ youth detention for his crimes, which included three counts of having sex with three 13-year-old girls and four counts of indecent assault on three girls aged 13 and 14.
