Jersey Rich List revealed

TONY Buckingham is Jersey’s richest resident with an estimated wealth of £565 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

Mr Buckingham, a 1(i)K resident who used to run companies that provided mercenaries and who controls a vast oil and diamonds empire in Africa and the Middle East, increased his fortune by £235 million last year and is now placed 112th overall in the national list.

But his bulging bank account is eclipsed by that of Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay, who have been ranked the richest Channel Islands residents with a £1.8 billion fortune.
