Housing for Old Harbour site?

Ms Shacklady said it was possible that homes could be built on the prime waterfront site at La Folie
NEW questions have surfaced about the future of land at St Helier’s Old Harbour following the creation of a new marine business park.
La Folie quay, the land behind the former La Folie pub, is being vacated by a number of businesses who are moving to the new park near La Collette marina. It is not yet clear what the land will be used for.
Myra Shacklady, the commercial director at Harbours, said that it was likely to be used for the development of the marine leisure industry. She added that it was also possible that homes could be built on the prime waterfront site.
The area around the English and French Harbours has been the subject of recent controversy. Boat owners have raised concerns that the development of the area into a new marina would lead to the loss of so-called drying moorings, which are relatively inexpensive.
They also suspect that Harbours will prefer to use land historically used for maritime purposes for housing.

Why not a Pub/seafood restaurant……?
the pub died as it did not lend itself to moving with the times…

If you recall there was a proposal a couple of years ago to revamp the old La Folie pub and turn it into a Gastro restauant/bar but this was knocked on the head.
Perhaps they were waiting for the lease to expire before they could sell to a developer ?!

Mrs Shacklady, the commercial director at Harbours has been quoted as saying it was possible that homes could be built on the site.
Is she seriously proposing this? Or just putting the idea into developers heads so that the price of the land goes up?
She is no position to comment on the suitability or viability of the site for housing. I would say this was plannings remit but their recent record does them no favours in this area.
This site should be retained as a marine related resource.

put the rents up on all the other quays by a 100 percent, and sell la folie to a developer for peanuts , and if they dont make enough money the tax payer can reimbuse them?
