THE Fun Lovin’ Criminals will headline this year’s Grassroots Festival.

The American band, best known for their 1995 hit Scooby Snacks, will take to the stage at Val de la Mare reservoir in July to top off the third annual music event.

Warming the crowd up for them will be Bedouin Soundclash – a band responsible for one of the most infectious summer anthems ever (When The night Feels My Song) – and platinum-selling Jose Gonzalez.

Festival organiser Jeff Wilson, of Allez-Oop, said that they were happy with the line-up and hoping to create the same vibe seen at the last two festivals.

The festival, which will also feature the Eco-Village, a collection of environmentally themed food, clothing and eco-living stalls, is on Saturday 31 July and runs from noon to 11 pm.

Tickets go on sale at the end of May but discounted tickets will be available at the Grassroots stall at the Jersey Boat Show over the May bank holiday weekend.

For the second year in a row it seems that the Grassroots festival has acquired a considerably better line-up than the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Tinie Tempah, and other unknown rubbish paraded at the Jersey Live festival.
Well done to Jeff Wilson and the other organisers for persuading these bands to come to our little island, hope it will be a great success.

So Paul Weller is unknown rubbish in comparison to some unknown one hit wonder group ???

Apologies, my thread was pertaining to the real ‘unknown rubbish’ at Jersey Live. Paul Weller would certainly not fit into this category, however the likes of Tinie Tempah and the vast majority of other tat they usually have on most certainly would.

    Dizzee Rascal… Tinie Tempah

strangely enough i though having hits regularly in the top40 and lots of airtime on Radio1 and other UK based radio stations, means your pretty well known… vs… a band thats not had a top40 hit in the last 15 years.

i’m still going to grassroots and am looking forward to seeing them play live… but i think “tobias” you need to update your music collection and stop being so negative.

I’m glad one festival has a line up worth seeing this year!

Lets face it the majority of the acts at these festivals wouldn’t fill a telephone box in the UK. Second rate acts appear at second rate festivals.

Paul (4) the Spice Girls had plenty of top 40 hits, plenty of number one hits if I remember correctly. But not too many of us would be in a hurry to see them in concert either, if they appeared at Jersey Live!

Seriously, my music collection is quite up to date thanks, it just doesn’t contain any sarf London z-list rappers waffling on about having ‘so many clothes I have to keep them at my aunts house’ like the aforementioned Mr Tempah…!

Tobias (7) I agree i wouldn’t be queuing to see the spice girls in concert either, but then i’m not overly happy at paying to see will young at biggig in the park either, i’m sure he’ll put on a good show and entertain the masses… i just hope theres a few more bands and local artists playing as well.

I think my point is that many people like these artists and buy their albums and listen to them on the airwaves. its there right.

personally I have always searched out some of the more unusual (less mainstream) artists for my playlists, but i will always have a love of older bands and music that means something rather than main-stream drivell thats pumped out by the winners of x-factor etc…
