Dandara give £10,000 to take kids to Twickenham
Thursday 29th April 2010, 2:58PM BST.
More than 130 academy members will travel to Twickenham to watch Jersey RFC’s historic National III Champions Cup final appearance on Saturday, 8 May, thanks to a £10,000 donation from Dandara.
Academy chairman Kevin Lemasney explained that, after last weekend’s semi-final win at St Peter, Dandara managing director Martin Clancy said that his company would help send some academy players over for the game.
Lemasney said: ‘Martin thought that the atmosphere at the Taunton game was just fantastic, pictured right, and one of things is that some of those Jersey players started out in the academy when they were seven or eight years old.
‘The academy is going from strength to strength and we have 456 playing members between the ages of six and 17 now. Ben Harvey has been a great help as he’s been working very closely with our coaches and it is raising the level throughout. ‘
