ISLAND football manager Jon Welsh will be hoping that Jersey’s dominance in last weekend’s inter-insular events continues in the Kleinwort Benson Muratti Vase final on Saturday.

Convincing victories in rugby’s Siam Cup (36-0), the Ladies’ Muratti (8-0) and Junior Upton, allied to success in the table tennis team event and show jumping, has certainly put Jersey sport on a winning roll.

And with Welsh naming eight players from Channel Islands football champions St Paul’s to face Guernsey in the Vase final at Springfield on Saturday, he is expecting a tremendous contest.

He is urging sport followers in Jersey to come out and support the game at Springfield because he believes the match will feature a lot of good football – from both sides.
