ISLANDERS can watch Jersey netballer Serena Guthrie’s Team Bath in their Superleague Netball final live on Sky Sports 4, at 4.30 pm tomorrow.

Although team details are not being announced until half an hour before the match, the former Convent player has played a crucial part in Team Bath’s success this year.

While they finished second in the league table behind Surrey Storm they despatched their Guildford-based opponents with style in the play off semi-final and will meet Hertfordshire Mavericks in this weekend’s final.

Mavericks are the only other team to ever win the Superleague title, aside from Bath who are looking to win their fourth, as they took the honour in 2008.

Spectators should expect another close tie between these two teams as in their first meeting of the season Bath edged the game 43-40 while Mavericks took the second 44-34.

Matt Banahan
Rugby powerhouse Matt Banahan has been voted ‘best back player of the season’ at Bath Rugby Club’s annual awards ceremony last night. T

he Jerseyman, who finished second behind Joe Maddock in the top try scoring list, beat Michael Claassens and Shontayne Hape to the award, in a week that England included him in the touring party to Australia and New Zealand this summer. Bath’s crucial Guinness Premiership semi-final with Leicester starts at 4 pm on Sunday.

Beckie Herbert
It’s not quite the same story for hockey star Beckie Herbert as she remains a doubt with a hip injury, having missed out on Test matches with Great Britain against Germany this week.

But she still could play a part in Leicester’s National Cup final against Reading tomorrow.
