Tourism are ‘neglecting’ campsites

A CAMPSITE owner has accused Jersey Tourism of ‘neglecting’ to promote camping to holidaymakers.
Bleu Soleil Campsite owner David Bridges said that, while he has had a good year so far, he feels as though campsites are regarded as ‘second-class citizens’ in the industry.
He thinks that Jersey Tourism should be more diverse in their marketing campaign to promote every aspect of the Island’s offering.
Jersey Tourism marketing manager Simon Le Huray said that all marketing opportunities were open to ‘the entire Jersey accommodation industry, from a five-star hotel to Jersey’s fine campsites’. He added that to date, however, campsites had not chosen to take up the marketing offers, which incur a charge.

KIT 4 CLUBS
Win a share of £10,000
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.

David Bridges says he is having a good year and is up 80% on last year to me that would mean Tourism’s marketing is doing a really good job.
Perhaps they are getting it right by showing good images of the island and then people will want to come here.

Well, nobody who visits this site can say that they have never heard of Bleu Soleil.
Mr Bridges’ publicity has been consistent on these pages over recent times!
Have to say that I wouldn’t mind staying there if all else becomes impossible. Haven’t asked how much it costs, mind.

Sorry David why would you expect Tourism to promote your campsite when they and the States made a point of stating some years ago that these were not the sort of people Jersey wanted, perhaps that is why Tourism is up to it’s neck in the brown smelly stuff !!!

This is the market that tourism should be targeting, tight people who want to sleep on the mud under a bit of cloth and spend nothing when they get here.

My husband and I camped at Belverlande last July had a great time (booked through condor)
have looked at this gentlemans camp site and after paying ferry costs and then camp site costs it works out cheaper to fly and stay in a cheap B & B
