GOOD all round team work helped Victoria College defeat Guernsey’s Elizabeth College by 39 runs in the annual inter-collegiate cricket match played at the College Field on Saturday.
Put in to bat, Victoria were all out for 143 runs in 51.3 overs with Tom Kirk impressing with the ball taking six wickets for 33 runs from 14 overs inclusive of four maidens. Victoria responded by bowling Elizabeth out in 35.2 overs for 104.
Victoria captain Tim de la Haye said: ‘It was a pleasing result; the wicket was dry and not one of the best but it assisted the bowlers of both teams.
‘I lost the toss and we were put in to bat. We had no really big scores, it was a team effort and the 15 runs scored by Luke Gallichan, and Jake Dunford for the last wicket, enabled us to have a competitive total to defend.’
