Chelsea gold for Jersey orchids
Thursday 27th May 2010, 2:59PM BST.
A GOLD medal at the Chelsea Flower Show was the reward for months of hard work by a team from the Eric Young Orchid Foundation.
The team’s meticulous planning, cultivation and sheer hard work in the days leading up to the show all paid off when they took the top prize on Tuesday, the sixth time they have won it.
Foundation curator Chris Purver said that they were delighted to find the gold medal on their exhibit at the Great Pavilion.
‘We thought we had put in a good display and we were quite confident,’ he said. ‘We had lots of lovely comments form the public and some really positive feedback but you never really know how you have done.’

Many Congratulations!
Let’s hope they can build on this and get back to past glories.
The EYOF seemed to have gone down-hill for a while after their huge success in the nineties and early noughties when they seemed to pick up every award going.
