Prison drugs plot gang jailed

A DRUGS gang has been jailed by the Royal Court after a plot to import a huge stash of heroin into Jersey was masterminded from inside La Moye prison.
In a serious breach of security, two inmates used a smuggled mobile phone to set up the deal under the noses of the unwitting prison guards. If the operation had been successful, Jersey’s streets would have been flooded with almost £120,000 of the class A drug. But police smashed the plot shortly before the heroin was due to be distributed to a network of dealers.
The inmate who allegedly orchestrated the importation was never prosecuted. But another prisoner, Serge Peacock, who at the time was serving an 8½-year sentence for drugs offences, has been jailed for a further six years for helping to traffic the heroin after it arrived in Jersey.
Three other Islanders have also been sentenced for their part in the enterprise. Robert Harrison Brown (35) was jailed for 3½ years and Ana Da Silva (22), for four years. Daniel Nigel Crespel (22) was jailed for five years for the supply offence and an additional two months for a separate charge of possessing cannabis while on remand in prison.
