Visiting evangelist wants to take mystery out of the supernatural

ANGELS play a vital role in the lives of believers, according to an international evangelist visiting Jersey this week.
Gary Oates, from North Carolina, is in the Island for a Christian conference at St Paul’s Church this weekend called ‘Supernatural Love’.
Closer to God
Part of the conference will focus on the ministry of angels and Mr Oates will be trying to take the mystery out of the supernatural and help Islanders get closer to God.
Mr Oates, who will be joined by his wife Kathi, said we must realise that we are not alone and angels are real.
‘Angels are here to assist people in fulfilling the call of God on your life and walking in the destiny that the Lord has ordained for you,’ he told the JEP earlier this week.
‘The ministry of angels is just as relevant today as it was in Bible times. They play a vital role in the lives of the believers, even though we may not be aware of their presence.’
The conference, which runs at St Paul’s Church from Sunday until Tuesday, is open to all and Mr Oates said it could be a turning point for anyone wanting to get closer to God.
‘This conference can be your date with destiny,’ he said.
‘It can be a turning point for anyone who desires a closer walk with the Lord and your life can be radically transformed in a short time.
‘We will take a practical and hands on approach in each session, not just talking about it, but demonstrating it as well. You will discover that God’s supernatural can become a normal way of life.’
Mr Oates focuses his ministry on intimacy with Jesus, how to experience the manifest presence of God, impartation to see in the spiritual realm, and healing for the whole person.
He is the author of a book, ‘Open My Eyes, Lord’, which describes his experiences of being taken up into heaven in Brazil in 2002, while his wife has written the book ‘Open My Heart, Lord’.
Throughout the conference topics such as how to develop intimacy with God, taking the mystery out of the supernatural, angelic visitations and physical healing will all be covered and Mr Oates said he was looking forward to sharing his work with Islanders.
‘This will be our first visit to Jersey and we sure are looking forward to seeing your beautiful island that we have heard so much about,’ he said.
