ENGLAND hockey striker Beckie Herbert is hopeful of winning her injury battle in time for this year’s Commonwealth Games and Hockey World Cup.
The 23-year-old underwent surgery last week on her hip following wear and tear and although the Leicester Hockey Club player is set to start on the long road to recovery, she hopes to be back in action by August.
This year’s women’s hockey World Cup, in Argentina, takes place from 29 August to 11 September and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, from 3-14 October.
Herbert said: ‘The surgeon who carried out an arthroscopy on my right hip seems pleased with how things have gone and I am off crutches and walking around okay again now.
‘I do however, have a relatively long rehab period in front of me but I hope to be back playing again sometime in August if things go well.’
