PET owners are being invited to take their animals along to a special service later this month to give thanks for all of creation and animals in particular.

Creatures of all shapes and sizes are welcome at the event, which has been organised by St Clement’s Church for the first time.

The ‘Paws for Praise’ service on Sunday 13 June will be made up of poems, stories, hymns and prayers related to animals and the positive effects they can have on people’s lives.

The Rev Tracey Le C Bromley, of St Clement’s Church, said the service would also be an opportunity to think about how humans treat and look after animals.

‘We are not sure what kind of animals will be there but it will be about celebrating them and praying that we may care for them,’ she said.

‘We have so many members of our congregation who do think quite a lot about creation and the animal world and I am very aware of how much animals mean to people, especially when they live on their own.’

The service, which begins at 4 pm, is expected to last around half an hour and will be held outside at Le Hocq weather permitting.
