Sunshine start at La Moye
Friday 4th June 2010, 3:00PM BST.
EXCELLENT weather contributed towards some fantastic scoring on the opening day of the Matrix Jersey Classic yesterday at La Moye Golf Club.
The senior professionals and amateurs really showed their class as just two pairings narrowly failed to equal or break par on the par-72 course.
South African Bertus Smit and amateur Chris Morris were the overnight leaders following a ten-under-par score of 62.
Six pairings returned 63s. Scotland’s Bill Longmuir and amateur John Billington (La Moye) are in second place after winning a countback of the back nine holes where they took 29 strokes.
