Classic Brand of golf

Gordon Brand junior, a winner in Jersey in 1986, returned a winner as a senior yesterday.

GORDON Brand Jnr won the Matrix Jersey Classic yesterday with rounds of 63, 66 and 72.

The amiable 51-year-old, new to the Seniors circuit, was five shots clear of South Africa’s Bobby Lincoln and Carl Mason, who tied together in second place with an aggregate of 206.

While Brand played to par on every hole during his last round, except the first (one over) and the 11th (birdie), Lincoln’s score of 70 was more like a seesaw than a game of golf as, during his final round, he played one over par on five holes while on another seven on each of them he was one under.
