New operator takes over French ferry link
Monday 7th June 2010, 3:00PM BST.
FERRY operator Finist’Mer has taken over Manche Iles Express, which runs the links from Granville and Carteret to Jersey.
The regional government, the Conseil Générale de la Manche, owns the ferries Marin Marie and the Victor Hugo. Finist’Mer has won a five-year operating contract to run services on behalf of the government.
The ferry company’s manager, Hugues-Robert Gros, said that there would be no significant change to services or fares this season as the regional government had asked the company to maintain the schedules published by the former operator.
However, he said that Finist’Mer had proposed special fares for Sundays for this summer to encourage more travellers from the Manche region.
