ASHBURTON put in a vintage fielding performance last night – taking eight catches – to set up a tantalizing quarter-final clash with current JEP Brighter Cricket Knockout Cup holders Beeches.

Forcing G4 Securicor to a paltry 39 all out in their second round encounter at FB Fields, all five of Ashburton’s bowlers took two wickets each to help bring the first innings to a halt in the 11th over.

Ed Bellow also took a fine catch at first slip to remove Alan Blampied, grasping the ball high to his right and on the move.

In reply Ashburton needed just 22 balls to reach the winning total, although it was not without the loss of three wickets, as Richard Parker sealed a seven-wicket victory with a six.

Meanwhile, in the inter-club battle it was InfrasoftTech Walkovers who got the better of compatriots InfrasoftTech Walkovers Rebels to secure a 44-run victory.
