Boy ‘was millimetres from paralysis’ after pier fall
Thursday 10th June 2010, 3:00PM BST.
A TEENAGE boy injured in a pier jumping accident is back on his feet after escaping being paralysed by just millimetres.
The 15-year-old broke his back and was knocked unconscious after he fell 12 feet off Bouley Bay pier and landed on a boat. He was initially treated at the General Hospital but was later flown to Southampton Hospital to undergo specialist surgery.
Today, less than a week after the accident, the boy’s father has revealed that although his son suffered serious back injuries, he escaped suffering spinal nerve damage by just millimetres.
