Tempers rise as audience members turn on candidates
Friday 11th June 2010, 2:57PM BST.
MEMBERS of the audience turned on the candidates at last night’s Senatorial hustings meeting in St Lawrence.
The Constable, Deidre Mezbourian, had to appeal for order twice as the 100-strong audience at the parish hall put the nine candidates to the test.
During Peter Remon-Whorrall’s speech, a woman shouted: ‘What are you going to do for us?’ before walking out, saying that she would not listen to his ‘drivel’.
And another audience member argued with candidate Nick Le Cornu after accusing his proposer, Deputy Montfort Tadier, of asking a ‘loaded’ question. At the end of the meeting Mrs Mezbourian said that it had been ‘entertaining in some respects and testing in others’.
