A JERSEY company involved in a financial battle with Leeds United Football Club has been given a final warning that it must be ready to defend itself when the legal dispute next comes before the Royal Court.

The Bailiff, Michael Birt, granted what he described as a final delay to Admatch on the grounds that its director, Jersey hotelier Robert Weston, was too ill to attend the hearing.

However, it was made clear that if Mr Weston was not well enough to resume the representation in the dispute, then Admatch had to be represented either by another director or by a lawyer.

Mr Birt adjourned the proceedings for a date to be set as early as possible after 1 October. He said that it could have been contrary to the human rights of the defendant to have refused the request for the delay. The court had been given a medical report from a specialist consultant saying that Mr Weston was not well enough to take part in the proceedings.

When was the court hearing ? the article does not say. Mr Weston was most definately at the town hall tonight at the final hustings. He afterwards had a chat at the end with Senator Ozouf.

I am sure the good Senator can confirm this.
