Games bid to go down to the wire
Thursday 17th June 2010, 3:00PM BST.
IN less than two weeks time Jersey will find out if they have won the race to host the 2015 Island Games.
Tension is mounting as the Island Games Associations’ annual general meeting in the Isle of Wight, at which the IGA member islands vote between Jersey and Gotland, looms ever closer.
Chairman of Jersey’s bid committee, Phil Austin, believes there is little to separate the two bids this time around so anticipates a close vote on 27 June.
‘We are getting really close to D-day now so we are just finalising the presentation that we will make at the agm where we will reiterate our bid and try to differentiate what we will offer compared to Gotland,’ Austin said.
