Chernobyl children on board

A GROUP of children affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster were learning to surf in Jersey yesterday as part of a charity trip.
The ten children – several of whom had never been in the sea before – are in Jersey for three weeks, staying with host families.
Yesterday, the Jersey Surfboard Club took them into the water at St Ouen yesterday.
‘It was absolutely brilliant and they really enjoyed it,’ said JSC vice president Arlene Maltman. ‘It was prefect conditions with one or two foot waves, really clean.’
