JERSEY won the Best International Finance Centre title at the International Fund and Products Awards 2010 last week

The results of the awards, which have been made annually for the past 11 years and are recognised as a key event in the field of global finance, were announced on 15 June.

Other international financial centres in competition with Jersey included Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Dublin and Luxembourg. The merits of the centres were judged by a panel of eight senior UK investment experts and advisers.

The judges’ decision to choose Jersey for the award was based on the quality of its funds offering, its solid reputation on the international scene and its robust legislative and regulatory framework.

Jersey Finance director Geoff Cook has welcomed the vote of confidence that the award represents.

It’s official, there’s no better place to hide your money.

I was an RM when the EUSD came into force, we were frantically telling our preferred customers how to hide their money in Singapore and avoid declaring it.

We had sliding rates of interest depending on what we could get away with, some investors with millions were getting a nominal rate while others who knew the market were getting top rate on a few grand.

    Banks – bent as ninepence.
