There must be better ways to save money than risking lives
Tuesday 22nd June 2010, 2:59PM BST.
From Julia Inns.
I HAVE just read the article concerning the axing of the lifeguards at Havre Des Pas by Senator Philip Ozouf in order to save costs.
I cannot believe that he is thinking of such an issue when the pool is used by lots of children and adults of all ages.
Why can’t he change the coloured street light bulbs along the beach and walkway to LED, like the ones from St Helier to St Aubin, as this would reduce his budget?
If it was his child that the lifeguards saved, I am sure that he wouldn’t think twice about these cuts.

Lives don’t need to be lost. Maybe the parents of said at risk children would like to consider their part in the safety of their children (much greater than the state/tax payer I would have thought) and organise themselves into providing either life guard cover themselves or paying for it. Problem solved & the rest of us don’t have to pay to baby sit your kids.
