Make your views known, say tax experts

EXPERTS are urging Islanders in business to read and respond to new proposals to reform the corporate tax system.
Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf published a consultation document on the review of the corporate taxation regime earlier this week.
The publication of the proposals has prompted major accountancy firms to issue pleas to Islanders to read the documents and make their views known to the authorities.
Senator Ozouf outlined five alternatives to the current zero-ten system – some of which could force currently tax-free businesses to begin paying into the exchequer.
The review has been launched after some EU member states expressed concern over the zero-ten regime.
Tax partner at Grant Thornton John Shenton said: ‘It is important for us all that the States of Jersey get this right, first time.’
