JERSEY’S Luke de la Cour is in second place in the BMRC Stock 1,000 Championship after a successful weekend in round six at Silverstone.

Compatriot Chris Hamelin was also racing on the recently redesigned National circuit and is now sixth in the 1,000 Clubman Cup.

After two rounds of qualifying De La Cour had secured himself eighth place on the grid but showed his starting strength in the first race as he was up to second place by the first corner.

Although he lost a place to the fully tuned power bike of Peter Baker, he finished third overall but took top spot on the podium as the first Stock class rider.
