Developer wins as Planning throw in towel

PLANNING has abandoned a seven-year battle against a controversial rural development – because it cannot risk paying to fight the developer in court.
Despite fierce opposition from residents and politicians, the department announced yesterday that it was throwing in the towel and would allow a St Brelade field to be built on.
David Sheppard, who controversially bulldozed Janvrin’s Farm in 2000 without planning permission, has tried for seven years to build on field 621, which is in the green zone between Woodbine Corner and the road to Ouaisné.
