It’s my time I wasted during the election

ON more than one occasion, I have been accused of being a time waster during this last election. And, of course, my critics are absolutely right. But it was not your time I wasted, it was mine.
From Phil Maguire.
ON more than one occasion, I have been accused of being a time waster during this last election. And, of course, my critics are absolutely right. But it was not your time I wasted, it was mine.
I wasted my time telling you that I believe in the Jersey Spirit that has faced such hardships on many occasions before and beaten them – and can do it again this time by doing the same things as we have done in the past.
I wasted my time telling you that sovereign wealth funds are a real alternative to the options of tax increases and/or lower standard of living offered by all of the other politicians and that they have been making money for the last 56 years for every country that has tried them – which is the vast majority of them.
After all, a sovereign wealth fund only requires exactly the same skills and doing exactly the same things that we carry out every day to earn money for our finance industry that we are so proud of.
I wasted my time telling you that the present government was not working and that entering the political arena and playing by its rules was destined to fail; that what was needed was a more circumspect way of dealing with government to make them effective – a way that worked because I have already used it.
I told people again and again that I was not going to be voted in and that it did not matter because my manifesto was not a declaration of what I could only do if I got elected – it was a declaration of what I had already started and was going to continue, with or without the help of government. It was just that the office and influence of Senator would have made it a little easier.
So there may be some confusion when people hear from me in future. I am going to stop talking about sovereign wealth funds, which is what governments do, and start talking about community development initiatives, which is exactly the same thing except that it is carried out by ordinary people like you and me.
It is just as Shakespeare said: ‘A rose by any other name would smell as sweet’. See my website for further details.
So instead of wasting your time, if I continue to be successful in these endeavours, I will have actually given you a thirteenth Senator free of charge.
That means that when the government that you elected into power has finished carrying out your wishes of taxing you into oblivion and reducing your standard of living to that of a third world country, there may still be someone left who can pull your ungrateful fat out of the fire.

you don’t have to be long in philip’s company to know that he is comming from a very good place unlike many of our present states members. Philip made a contribution and that is important.the voter is the real problem in elections. They are looking for something that they cannot attain from policy.Knowledge or the lack of it is the problem.
