Le Ber takes shine off De Sousa’s brilliant bowls show

JERSEY’S talented teenager Malcolm de Sousa pulled off a sensational win over England’s Bowler of the Year Simon Skelton in the quarter finals of the British Isles men’s singles championship in Worthing yesterday.
The 18-year-old’s 21-10 dismissal of the man who is currently ranked number six in the world was hailed by some as the best exhibition of drawing bowls they had ever seen.
A shell-shocked Skelton admitted, “I don’t think I’ve ever come up against anyone playing better than Malcolm did today – he just didn’t give me a chance, and I think he could have beaten anyone in that form.”
Sadly, in his semi final encounter with Guernsey’s Matt Le Ber, it was Le Ber who sealed a 21-15 victory
